3The Crucible Regarded as a one of the foremost classics of American theatre, Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" uses the proceedings of the Salem witch trials to examine the manic effects of mass hysteria in society. As an increasing number of upstanding townspeople are accused of witchcraft, Miller emphasizes the contagious nature of fear and the elusiveness of truth. The 1953 Tony Award-winning play invites us to question the importance of upholding morality in times of hardship. PERFORMANCES July 27-29 and August 3-5 at 8pm July 29-30 and August 5-6 at 2pm

4Smokey Joe's Cafe Leiber and Stoller, as much as anyone, virtually invented rock 'n' roll, and now their songs provide the basis for an electrifying entertainment that illuminates a golden age of American culture. In an idealized '50's setting, the classic themes of love won, lost and imagined blend with hilarious set-pieces and slice-of-life emotions. Featuring nearly 40 of the greatest songs ever recorded, SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE isn't just great pop music - it's compelling musical theatre.

5Agatha Christie's Spider's Web World-renowned crime novelist and playwright Agatha Christie brilliantly blends the genres of mystery, comedy, thriller in this fantasia on her typical whodunit work. "Spider's Web" follows eccentric socialite Clarissa, who discovers a man murdered in her drawing room, having spent years spinning extraordinary tales of mystery to anyone who would listen. Drenched in suspense with surprising moments of levity and wit, "Spider's Web" offers a unique and rewarding departure from the usual Christie canon. 6Appropriate Members of the fragmented Lafayette family reconnect to settle their fathers affairs, but soon discover that they must first tackle their unresolved issues with each other. The Obie Award-winning play incorporates shocking reveals coupled with absurdist undertones that expose what it means to be part of a family, culture, and nation built upon a troubled history. A vivid and original take on the household drama, Appropriate takes its place in the American canon as an incomparable masterpiece. 5Pure Prairie LeaguePure Prairie League’s longevity is a testament to the timelessness of the music. This distinctly American band drew heavily from 1960s’ rock, adding a heavy dose of country and high-flying harmony that gave it a unique sound soon to be known as country-rock. Their classic hit Amie not only put them on the map, but went on to become perhaps the most well known and beloved country rock song of all time. Whether they are Pickin To Beat The Devil, or taking you riding down a Two Lane Highway, Pure Prairie League is a sure fire good time.TheNewtonTheatre2017-04-21 14:11:112017-07-21 20:00:00

6Stick MenStick Men is a rock trio like no other. Playing instruments not usually seen or heard, and writing captivating and challenging music, they embody the tradition of progressive rock. The Stick Men are Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto, the powerhouse bass and drums of the group King Crimson and guitarist Markus Reuter. Audiences are fascinated by seeing just three musicians onstage perform pieces like Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, King Crimson’s Red and Lark’s Tongues, as well as wild improvs and their own catalog of unique music..TheNewtonTheatre2017-04-21 14:15:152017-08-16 20:00:00

6& Juliet, A World Premiere by Robert Caisley at NJ Rep Charlie Vaughn, an idealistic young director comes to a small conservative college campus to stage a production of Romeo & Juliet. When he announces his decision to cast a fourteen year-old boy in the role of Juliet, as was the Elizabethan custom, he challenges the "old school" sensibilities of the campus community and invites the wrath of a young black actress who feels her time is due. As a result, Charlie turns to his new colleague – a thirty-year veteran of the drama department – for advice on how to handle the student's challenge to his authority. 2LEE KONITZ 90TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION Alto Saxophonist Lee Konitz has enjoyed one of the most creative and prolific careers in modern jazz. After an early experience with the Claude Thornhill Orchestra and Stan Kenton's Orchestra, the innovative small groups of pianist Lennie Tristano, and the Miles Davis Capitol Orchestra ("Birth of the Cool"), Konitz turned freelance and has remained on the cutting edge of post-bop improvisation ever since.

He has occasionally led a nonet (now resurrected!) and various quartets, but his exceptionally large and varied discography also includes an early unaccompanied saxophone solo album, several innovative albums of duets that spanned jazz styles, and collaborations which reads like the "who's who" of the Jazz world. Lee Konitz is the only still active musician to have played all three ever excisting Birdland clubs in New York City.

Like Gil Evans or Coleman Hawkins Lee has always been open and interested to play with younger musicans and to participate in exciting new musical projects co-lead by them (like the Lee Konitz New Nonet or the Lee Konitz-Ohad Talmor String Project). A new book about Lee Konitz (by Andy Hamilton) was published in 2007. He has received the NEA Jazz Masters Award in 2009.

Recently Lee Konitz has performed in a duo setting with pianist Dan Tepfer and his New Quartet, followed by a CD released with Brad Mehldau, Charlie Haden and the late Paul Motian. In 2012 another quartet constellation featuring Bill Frisell, Gary Peacock and Joey Baron has emerged. Lee was voted "Alto Saxophonist of the Year" by Downbeat Magazine Critics Poll in 2010 and numerous times before that. In July 2013 he was awarded the "German Jazz Prize" for his life in music.

2Hey Monea
Hey Monea is: Dan Monea (guitar, piano, vocals) Nate Monea (percussion, vocals) Adam Orin (bass, mandolin, steel guitar)For brothers Dan and Nate Monea and longtime friend Adam Orin, their time is meant to be spent doing what they love writing, recording and performing music. Even though Nate was just 13 and I was 16 when we played our first show, I knew music would be our life, says Dan. That passion was affirmed in 2012, when this childhood trio from Cleveland, Ohio were selected to open for Bruce Springsteen to perform in front of 60,000 fans during Hard Rock Callings summer music festival in Londons Hyde Park. The band secured this opportunity by winning Hard Rocks worldwide battle of the bands, besting over 12,000 other bands from around the world. Since then, Hey Monea has shared the stage with many of their musical heroes: ranging from the Bare Naked Ladies and the Goo Goo Dolls to the Doobie Brothers, Lady Antebellum, and Kid Rock. These influences resonate deeply in their music and was captured efficiently by legendary Grammy winning producer Dennis Herring (Counting Crows, Elvis Costello, Modest Mouse) on the bands' major label debut, Cheap Souvenirs, in late 2013. The band spent two years living on the road in support of Cheap Souvenirs, playing club dates and festivals across the country, as well as opening Bronze Radio Returns entire 2014 Summer tour. On the heels of all of that activity, Hey Monea elected to seclude themselves away in a cabin in Florida to write, record and self-produce their newest release, entitled The Fifty. The record is meant to serve as a hearty homage to the United States, as Daniel Monea offers "not only is the American landscape the backdrop for our lives, it's the inspiration as well. With every new city comes different food, different culture, different nature, and most importantly different people who live entirely unique lives. Nate Monea adds its our privilege as a band, being able to travel and see new and diverse parts of the country. We try to use that inspiration, and this new album reflects that. Hey Monea doesnt consider themselves patriots in a traditional sense as Daniel puts it, "We love America for the greasy spoons, farmers daughters, and fishing holes. For the people we meet along the way and for the freedom we all enjoy The songs on The Fifty reflect that love deeply on tunes like Honey, I Do, a devotional love song that, according to Adam Orin, takes a few risks and doesnt fit into a specific mold. America is the land of opportunity, and on Filthy Rich, the band laments late model cars and paper plates and the other trappings of a band who aspires to break through. The calypso-tinged Buenos Noches addresses how love might, at timed, bridge the language barrier in our diverse country. The Fifty will be released onOctober 23 on independent imprint Noble Steed Music, and the band intends to tour with all of the enthusiasm reflected on this new, youthful batch of recordings. Find out more at http://www.heymonea.com/ and on social media.

3Danielia Cotton
Music has gotten so stingy. At its finest, its the voice of the people, but for those who are searching for more than a beat and a hook, more often than not were left wanting; wondering if anyone has anything at all to say. Cue Danielia Cotton. Cotton is a gutsy artist with a story to tell. Her music screams, Hell yeah, Ive got something to say. Its transformative. She recycles all the blessing and pain in life into this beautynote after note, set after set she pours it out like an offering or A Prayer.Demographers, beware: Danielia Cotton doesn't fit neatly into any box. She's an African American, from a nearly all-white town in New Jersey. She's a singer and songwriter who can sound like a blues balladeer on one track, and a hard-rock wailer on the next. - NPRCottons childhood was spent in the Sourland Mountains in Hopewell, NJ. She is music legacy. Her mother and aunts were all professional vocalists and music was in her blood. Cotton started performing in her teens. Early on she began veering from the gospel and jazz/blues of her mother and aunts finding greater allure in rock legends like, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, and Todd Rundgren and soul and R&B royalty like, Stevie Wonder and Donnie Hathaway. Cotton began crafting her own sound; an eclectic mix of the stuff that shaped her and the stuff that called her.Cotton brings a freshness to the soul-rock formula, not to mention a contagious fervor that is near irresistible. Los Angeles TimesCotton left Hopewell for Manhattan and began performing in venues like The Bitter End and The Cutting Room. She was making connections in NYCs music scene. Those connections led her to Kevin Salem of Chocolate Genius who would produce her first full length album, Small White Town. Shortly prior to its release she was selected as an Artist to Watch by WXPN out of Philadelphia. So, despite the move to Manhattan and attempting to get her feet wet there, she found herself headed south again; fully immersed in Phillys music scene. an honest-to-God voice with real power, conviction, emotion and soul. Boston HeraldOn the heels of Small White Town, 2005 Cotton parted ways with Anthony Liberatore of HipShake Music. With the freedom to shape her own vision and direction; she released critically acclaimed Rare Child, 2008 as a true indie artist followed by Gun in Your Hand, 2012 (another collaborative effort with Kevin Salem) in relatively quick succession. Cotton is no stranger to the classic rock n roll storyshes lived some life; seen and been through some serious shit and this, this powerful body of work is what she did with it. with blaring, guitar-charged, Southern-rooted rock that links her to Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Black Crowes, Janis Joplin, Aerosmith and the rockier side of Bonnie Raitt. Shes a belter who can hold back or work her way up to a gospelly blues-rock shout, and in the songs she writes with her bands brawny guitar riffs, she grapples with the road, salvation, holding on and letting go. New York TimesThis new offering, A Prayer marks the end of a tumultuous season in Cottons life. A season that brought her to her roots and to her knees. Cotton is wrestling with her fears; dragging them out into the light of day. Shes raw and real; and completely unfettered. Shes reborn in Afraid to Burn letting go and deciding its ok. There is a spiritual element to A Prayer that is unlike anything else weve heard from her. Yes, her music has always had a touch of it. Its at the core of her beginnings both personally and musically, but this is something new. Cotton isnt hinting at it she is declaring it in your face and placing it at your feet.

6Cindy Alexander
Cindy is the personification of what it takes to be a superstar. Her writing is insightful and poignant. Her stage presence is utterly unforgettable, and her musicianship is flawless. She also possesses that rarest of charisma that one cannot manufacture: she was born to perform. David Lawrence, Host and Executive Producer of NET MUSIC COUNTDOWNBorn and raised in Los Angeles, Cindy was trained at the acclaimed USC School of Drama but realized quickly that there was enough drama in real life and the best part she could play... was herself. So, she wrote what is now 8 cds (and added to numerous compilations and soundtracks) worth of her life, which she has performed all across the United States, Japan, Germany, Ireland, and islands as far as Barbados and Guantanamo Bay. Music has always been the key to her adventure, and she soaks up the stories of those she meets, the cultures, the geography, the spirit and the down and dirty details of the road she travels. As a seasoned writer and performer, she has tackled numerous subjects - not only the classic singer/songwriter confessional fare of dysfunctional relationships, marriage, and motherhood, but also her personal discovery and recovery from breast cancer, the perils of the entertainment business, classic literature, sexuality, spirituality, history and the human condition. There is no topic which is out of bounds - she tells The Truth. P-nut, as she is affectionately known by her fans, has a voice that defies her petite stature. Classically trained, this coloratura soprano hits the high notes like an angel but also bellows with rich, velvety tones in the lower half of her over three octave range. Shes a storyteller, and her show benefits from the stories, humor and banter with the audience in between songs as it is does from the music and exceptional execution. Cindy Alexander CONNECTS, and her relationship with her fans has funded her recording projects and fueled her continued success as a touring indie musician. She's won a multitude of awards including David Foster's/NBC Star Tomorrow, L.A. Music Awards Songwriter of the Year/ Independent Pop Album of the Year, All Access Magazine's Best Female Pop Vocalist, Just Plain Folks Song of the Year/Female Artist of the Year, L.A. Music Critic's Best Female CD for Every Rise and Fall (2012), Curve (2014) and most recently An American Girl (2015). Even with accolades and a "record deal" as a prize for winning a reality show, she's stayed independent on her own JamCat Records, which found the perfect partner in Blue lan Records in 14.Cindy has shared the stage with John Hiatt, Bacon Brothers, America, Suzanne Vega, Joan Osborn, Rick Springfield, Beth Hart, Everclear, The Bangles, Edwin McCain, Marc Cohn, Howard Jones, Gin Blossoms, Collective Soul, Lisa Loeb, etc. and has appeared on compilation cd's along side Sarah McLachlan (Chilled Sirens- Water Music Records), Aimee Mann (Eclectic Cafe - Water Music Records) and Norah Jones (Sunday Brunch - Treadstone Records). She has also appeared on soundtracks: Sugar & Spice (Trauma Records) and has been featured in films (Here on Earth, Smokers, Sugar & Spice, Dorm Daze II, People I've Slept With, My Trip Back to the Dark Side etc.) and TV (Party of 5, Chasing Farrah, So You Think You Can Dance, VH1/MTV).Aside from being a singer/songwriter/ recording artist, Cindy Alexander is a wife, daughter, friend, mother of twins, breast cancer survivor, advocate and Ambassador to BreastCancer.org, animal rescuer, avid reader, hiker, cribbage competitor, baker of OCD chocolate chip cookies, volunteer, and guacamole lover. When asked what drives her to be an artist, she answered:"What compels me to share my creativity is what I call the 'life of song.' It's the journey from Inspiration, to a spark or current in my heart, to something that pours from my pen to paper, from my fingertips to my instrument, from within my body and out through voice...to the space between me and the listener and hopefully, into that listener's heart, where it takes on an additional meaning, if not an entirely different one than I had imagined... And then perhaps, it's shared with a random friend and the journey continues. That's the life of a song. Music is a connection, a healer, and it's magic."

7Addi & Jacq
Addi McDaniel, Jacqueline KerrodRecently crowned the best emerging band in NYC as winners of the 2015 NPR-WNYC Battle of the Boroughs,Addi & Jacq (armed with nothing more than vocals and a harp) have created a diverse and compelling body of music. The variety in Addi and Jacqs output can be partly attributed to their wide range of musical influences, which they said include everyone from Mozart to Radiohead, Rufus Wainwright to Paul Simon. While some buzz with quick vocals and smart rhymes, others bubble slowly with blended voices. All are grounded by skilled writing, singing, and playing. The Los Angeles Times praised vocalist Addi McDaniel as a a powerhouse with a brass-plated voice, and paired with exceptionally virtuosic and sensitive harpist Jacqueline Kerrod (Classical Source Online) they bring you a sound that "transcends genre, unlike anything you've heard before (Bob Power, grammy-winning producer). They perform regularly in New York and collectively their venues include Avery Fisher Hall, Birdland, Carnegie Hall, Joes Pub, Rockwood Music Hall, Radio City Music Hall, The Apollo Theater, Highline Ballroom, WNYC's Greenespace and The Metropolitan Opera House.
